Alabama VII hosting a poker run on August the 15th

22 06 2009

Brother and Sister Blue Knights,

Alabama VII is hosting a poker run on August the 15th and we would like to envite you and the other members of your chapter to attend.

This year we are raising money to donate to Honor Flight. It costs $900.00 dollors to send one veteran to the WWII memorial in Washington, DC. and your chapters support will be a huge help in sending as many of these deserving veterans to the memorial that they so deserve before their time has run out.

I have hopefully attached a copy of this years event flyer to this email, but if I was not succesful, a copy has been posted to the SRC website and is also on our chapters website (www.blueknightsal7.com) as well. Please pass the word around to your chapter members and make this a ride for your chapter to attend. We will also be hosting a social party after the days events for all Blue Knght members to attend. Hopefully it will provide an opportunity for Blue Knights from all over the south to have a good time while getting to know each other a little better.

Update on March of Dimes Talladega

22 06 2009

We just had a meeting with the March of Dimes, volunteers, and Talladega Superspeedway representatives. There’s a hope that this year’s event will run more smoothly than in years past so let’s keep our fingers crossed. The logistics seem to have been well thought out and most of the bases have been covered.

I need to know who will be able to work the event on August 1st. We still need tour guides, wall riders, group wranglers…. Please let me know ASAP whether or not you’ll be there. If you think you can be there, let me know that too.

For those who’ll be leading tours and riding the wall, there will be a training session/set up on Friday July 31. Meet at the guard shack at the North speedway entrance at 1230. We’ll help set up for the event and have training for the tour guides and wall riders. We should be out of there NLT 1700 Friday.

Volunteers will need to be at the track by 0800 on Saturday August 1 to complete final preparations and receive assignments. There’ll be plenty to do throughout the day so be well rested. Water, shelter, food, and restrooms are all being provided for the volunteers. Bring sun screen. Lots of sun screen.

Here’s the link for the March of Dimes event website www.bikersforbabiesal.org . Tell all of your friends who ride to come on out and participate. Even if they can’t volunteer, the event’s for a good cause and there’ll be plenty to do.

Please call if you have questions, concerns, or comments. Please direct all criticism to Jimmy Nail.

Fall Southern Regional Conference

13 05 2009

Kim and I are going to attend the fall Southern Regional Conference in Greenville, SC and wanted to know if anyone else is interested. If it’s anything like the one in Mobile, it’ll be a blast. There will be plenty of scenic, twisty roads to ride, free booze, good company, and good food. The conference really rekindled my enthusiasm for the Blue Knights.

If you’re a Blue Knight, you’ve got to make at least one conference – it’s just that much fun. If you’re not a Blue Knight, consider this an invitation to join. You’ll have fun, make friends, and ride ride ride. You needn’t live in this immediate area to be a member of our chapter, just so you know.
